FOR KIDS!

WATCH! READ! and LEARN!
Shelby County Libraries is offering a new online literacy resource, BookFLIX. This resource created by Scholastic Publishing pairs quality picture books and nonfiction books for children, three years to eight years of age, along with their caregivers. BookFLIX has 80 fiction-nonfiction pairs with 20 pairs offered in Spanish. For example, the books There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly and You Are What You Eat can be enjoyed together.

Each presentation includes a read-aloud option, interactive educational games, narrated definitions and text to build vocabulary and support young readers, author biographies, and safe, age-appropriate Web links to extend learning. BookFLIX reinforces early reading skills and develops essential real world knowledge and understanding. This subscription is partially funded by The Community Foundation of Shelby County.
